The following poem has been a favorite of mine for many years, and I read it often. I made it into a bookmark and use it in my Bible. So much of what we are bombarded with a Christmas is all about gifts -- big gifts -- when actually, Christmas is not an abundance of gifts, it's the gift of an abundant heart. The "little things" mentioned in this poem are free and available to us all, if we only take the time to see and appreciate them. I hope you enjoy the poem, written by G. Curtis Jones. Have a Blessed Christmas!
Most of us
miss out
on life's
big prizes.
The Pulitzer.
The Nobel.
Oscars.
Tonys.
Emmys.
But we're
all eligible
for life's
small pleasures.
A pat on
the back.
A kiss
behind the ear.
A four-pound bass.
A full moon.
An empty
parking space.
A crackling fire.
A great meal.
A glorious sunset.
Hot soup.
Don't fret
about
copping life's
grand awards.
Enjoy its
tiny delights.
There are plenty
for all of us.
