Most of
last week I was out of town attending a state housing conference. There’s
nothing like sitting in meetings all day to zap any energy or creativity I may
have left. I know I used up more than my allotment of printing space with last
week’s crazy cat tales. I certainly don’t want our editor to start charging me
by the column inch, so this week is a little shorter. And since I’ve missed my
deadline and am mostly brain-drained after three days of meetings, this week
I’m just passing along someone else’s wisdom. I wish I knew whom to credit for
these insightful thoughts.
To realize
the value of a sister, ask someone who doesn’t have one.
To realize
the value of twenty years, ask a newly-divorced couple.
To realize
the value of four years, ask a graduate.
To realize
the value of one year, ask a student who has failed a final exam.
To realize
the value of nine months, ask a mother who gave birth to a stillborn.
To realize
the value of one month, ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.
To realize
the value of one week, ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize
the value of one second, ask a person who has survived an accident.
To realize
the value of a friend or family member, lose one.
Time waits
for no one. Treasure every moment you have.
